Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended a fake Senator, Ifechukwu Tom Makwe, for his alleged involvement in a €5.7 million internet fraud. Makwe, who was arrested in the Guzape area of Abuja, is said to have carried out his fraudulent activities using various aliases and fake identities.
According to a statement released by the EFCC, Ifechukwu Tom Makwe, also known as Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, and Dr. Bran, is accused of defrauding a Spaniard of €5.7 million. The suspect reportedly presented himself as a US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and a diplomatic solicitor, using these false identities to deceive and defraud his victim.
The fraudulent activities allegedly began in 2013 when Makwe first connected with the victim on social media. The EFCC initiated the arrest based on credible intelligence regarding Makwe’s involvement in internet-related fraud.
Ifechukwu Tom Makwe, a fake Senator, has been arrested by the EFCC for his alleged role in an internet fraud scheme amounting to €5.7 million. The suspect is accused of using multiple aliases and false identities, including posing as an FBI agent and a diplomatic solicitor. The EFCC’s investigations are ongoing, and upon their completion, Makwe will be charged to court to face the appropriate legal consequences for his actions.
