The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, has strongly condemned the recent attack on FRSC personnel and operational vehicles in Jos, Plateau State. The attack occurred while the personnel were carrying out their lawful duty of rescuing crash victims following a fatal accident involving a diesel-laden tanker that claimed 13 lives and destroyed several vehicles.
According to Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, who signed a statement on the incident, the FRSC personnel were ambushed by sympathizers and suspected hoodlums who burnt down one patrol vehicle and damaged parts of an ambulance meant to convey injured victims to the hospital. The attack also left three operatives with severe injuries.
While sympathizing with the victims of the crash, the Corps Marshal called on the public to desist from further unprovoked attacks on FRSC personnel and facilities. He commended the swift response of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in restoring normalcy to the area.
