The ACReSAL project in Bauchi has unveiled an incredible Sky-Drone to ensure the safety and protection of the sprawling 1,300 square kilometers game reserve at Yankari Resort and Safari. This cutting-edge technology will serve as a vigilant guardian against any encroachment on the reserve’s valuable land.
Muhammad Ladan, the General Manager of Yankari Resort and Safari, enthusiastically shared the news during a recent visit by the ACReSAL project team, led by National Project Coordinator Abdulhamid Umar. This visit aimed to assess the challenges and issues faced by the renowned game reserve.
Ladan revealed that ACReSAL has already provided a range of modern equipment and materials, including Game Viewing Trucks, Communication gadgets, and Uniforms for game ranchers. However, the upcoming addition of the supervision drone will revolutionize the ranching process across hundreds of kilometers within the game reserve.
Notably, the project team has also conducted training sessions for the staff of Yankari Resort and Safari, enabling them to seamlessly integrate their vast experience with ACReSAL’s innovative techniques. This collaboration aims to enhance the ecosystems of the state and further develop the game reserve.
In his quest for continuous improvement, the general manager requested additional modern equipment and research materials that could facilitate the smooth operation and growth of the game reserve. These enhancements would contribute to increased revenue generation and create a vibrant social environment.
Dr. Kabir Ibrahim Gamawa, the Bauchi State Coordinator of the ACReSAL project, previously highlighted that this groundbreaking Six-Year $700 million World Bank initiative encompasses 19 Northern states and the FCT, Abuja. The project launch in Bauchi, graced by Governor Bala Mohammed and representatives from participating states, marked a significant milestone.
Dr. Ibrahim Gamawa emphasized the monumental nature of the ACReSAL project, as it spans three of Nigeria’s six geo-political sub-regions and represents the largest World Bank endeavor south of the Sahara. The project’s primary objectives include addressing environmental challenges, harnessing abundant water resources, and promoting modern farming practices across the participating states.
The ACReSAL project aims to reactivate over one million hectares of land in each participating state, significantly boosting food and cash crop production for enhanced revenue generation and food security throughout the country.
