By providing a conducive environment, these facilities will enhance seamless training for corps members during their three-week orientation period. The former head of state reiterated that the NYSC remains an essential reference point and a catalyst for fostering national unity and integration in Nigeria.

“I appeal to all Nigerians, corporate organizations, government ministries, departments, agencies, philanthropists, religious organizations, and other stakeholders to provide necessary support to the National Youth Service Corps. This support will enable the NYSC to consolidate on the successes achieved in the last 50 years,” Gowon said.

As the Scheme celebrates its Golden Jubilee, Gowon expressed his prayers for the Presidential Assent of the proposed NYSC Trust Fund. This fund would facilitate a significant turnaround for the Scheme, particularly in improving training facilities and providing start-up capital to corps members for their entrepreneurial ventures, aligning with the skills they acquire through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, among other benefits.

In conclusion, Gowon expressed admiration for the dedication of the corps members and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire NYSC family on the occasion of the 50th anniversary. He looks forward to witnessing more years of impactful contributions to the nation across various fields of human endeavor.

As the NYSC commemorates its 50th anniversary, let us join hands in supporting this noble initiative that has played a vital role in fostering national development, unity, and the empowerment of Nigerian youth. Together, we can ensure the continued success and growth of the NYSC for the betterment of our beloved country.
