The Muhammad Sanusi II Sustainable Development Goals (MSII SDG) Initiative has revealed the finalists of the third round of the MSII SDG Challenge. Out of 1,500 applications received from 19 African countries, 25 innovative educators have been selected to join the esteemed 3rd Cohort of the MSII Incubator.
The MSII Incubation program aims to empower teachers with essential skills and funding to drive positive change in sub-Saharan education systems and contribute to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
The selected educators come from eight countries in Eastern, Southern, and Western Africa, representing a diverse and inclusive cohort with 16 female educators and nine male educators. The countries participating in the program include Benin Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Some of the finalists’ names are Naomi Mwazozo, Judy Mukami, Ifeoma Chime, Joy Ifeanyi, Robert Okiror, Nkiru Njoku, Claire Hazoume, Moira Alinah, Faridah Aminu, and Martins Adegoke, among others.
During the onboarding of the MSII SDG Challenge Cohort 3, His Highness Muhammad Sanusi II addressed the finalists, emphasizing the importance of innovation and resilience in leadership. The initiative’s incubation and accelerator programs have already positively impacted over 2,000 teachers, benefiting nearly 50,000 children, and their goal is to continuously empower teachers and enhance the quality of education in sub-Saharan Africa.
The MSII SDG Initiative, in partnership with 1 Million Teachers, focuses on building the capacity of teachers to provide an inclusive learning experience and drive innovative community projects by equipping teacher-changemakers with resources, skills, and networking opportunities. With the implementation of innovative projects by the educators of Cohort 3, the initiative looks forward to making a lasting difference in the educational landscape and contributing to a brighter future for the region.
