The city of Mumbai, India, is shaken by a horrifying murder investigation as police delve into the alleged killing of 32-year-old Saraswati Vaidya. According to authorities, Vaidya’s body was discovered in her apartment in the Mira Road district, and her live-in partner, Manoj Sane, 56, has been arrested on murder charges. The police claim that Vaidya was brutally killed and her body dismembered. Mr. Sane is currently in custody and has not issued any public statement regarding the incident.

Concerned residents of the building alerted the police to a “foul smell” emanating from Mr. Sane’s apartment on Wednesday evening. Upon entering, officers were confronted with the decomposed remains of Vaidya, her body cut into multiple pieces. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale informed the Hindustan Times newspaper that they are working to determine the motive and execution of the murder. It is suspected that the perpetrator dismembered the body for easier disposal. Samples have been collected for forensic analysis, indicating that the murder likely occurred two to three days prior.

Deputy Commissioner Bajbale expressed deep concern over the situation and assured reporters of their commitment to seeking justice for Vaidya. This shocking case has garnered significant attention across India, particularly due to its unsettling parallels with a similar incident just seven months ago. Aftab Poonawala was arrested on allegations of murdering his live-in partner, Shraddha Walkar, in a comparable manner. Police accused Mr. Poonawala, 28, of dismembering Walkar’s body, storing the pieces in his home refrigerator, and disposing of them in various parts of the city. The case, widely known as the “fridge murder,” captivated the nation for weeks, thanks to the sensational claims made by the authorities.
