Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted notorious drug kingpin, Charles Uwagbale, while he was preparing a recruited courier, Uju Dominic, to smuggle 93 pellets of cocaine to Italy. Uwagbale, who specializes in sponsoring young Nigerians to traffic Class A drugs to Europe, was arrested in a hotel room in Lagos during the operation.
NDLEA operatives have been actively pursuing Uwagbale, following credible intelligence, and their efforts led to the thwarting of his latest drug distribution plan. The agency arrested both Uwagbale and his recruited courier, Uju Dominic, and seized a total of 1.427 kilograms of cocaine.
In another successful operation, attempts to smuggle a large quantity of tramadol into Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport were foiled due to the robust synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and NDLEA officers.
NDLEA operatives in different states have made multiple arrests and seizures of drugs and opioids. In Bauchi state, 6,265,080 pills of opioids were recovered from three suspects, along with additional seizures in Lagos, Adamawa, Ondo, Sokoto, Yobe, Edo, Nasarawa, Kano, and Ogun states.
The operations have resulted in the arrest of drug traffickers, confiscation of large quantities of drugs, and the destruction of cannabis farms in different regions of the country. The NDLEA’s concerted efforts aim to curb drug trafficking and ensure public safety.
