The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Adamawa/Taraba command has made a major breakthrough in its fight against smuggling activities in the state. The command has seized a total of 14 contraband items worth N55,317,680.40 in the past three weeks. These items include PMS, foreign parboiled rice, and vodka drinks without NAFDAC certification.
According to the State Comptroller, Suleiman Abdullahi, who addressed journalists in Yola, the seized PMS is going to be auctioned to members of the public. This is an opportunity for individuals who are in need of PMS to purchase at an affordable price.
The NCS Adamawa/Taraba command has been collaborating with other security agencies to end smuggling activities in the state. Despite the closure of the North-East borders, some people are still making their way in and out of these closed borders. This is why officers and men from the command have spread their tentacles to narrow down the anti-smuggling activities in the states.
Since the assumption of office by the Comptroller on the 18th of April, 2023, the command has recorded numerous successes due to the untiring efforts and synergy of its operatives. However, the seized NPK bags did not follow the proper procedures for transporting fertilizers in the Northeastern region of the country, while the ten bags of foreign parboiled rice were being smuggled out through the closed borders.
