In a sizzling display of culinary prowess, Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, affectionately known as Hilda Baci, has made history by shattering the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”

On Monday morning, Hilda Baci surpassed the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by the renowned Chef Lata Tondon from India. Undeterred by her remarkable feat, Hilda persevered, determined to cook for an astonishing 96 hours, solidifying her place as the first human on Earth to achieve such a culinary feat.

The ambitious cooking marathon commenced on Thursday at precisely 4 PM when Hilda ignited her stove, embarking on an extraordinary gastronomic journey. Throughout her endeavor, Hilda has received an outpouring of support from government officials, celebrities, religious leaders, and fellow Nigerians, who have stood by her side despite a torrential downpour in the early hours of Monday morning in Lagos.

Even Chef Tondon, the previous record holder, sent her warm wishes, acknowledging Hilda’s culinary prowess and applauding her determination to push the boundaries of what seemed impossible.

Notably, Hilda’s exceptional achievement has garnered recognition from her native Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel. In a phone call on Sunday evening, Governor Emmanuel commended Hilda for epitomizing the core tenets of the Dakkada philosophy embraced by the state. Overflowing with admiration, the governor praised her unwavering passion and unyielding determination to break the Guinness World Record.

“This embodies our Dakkada philosophy perfectly – the drive to fearlessly conquer what others deemed unattainable. We salute you for showcasing our culinary skills and our nationally and internationally acclaimed cuisines,” the governor expressed with pride. He further assured Hilda of the solid support from millions of Nigerians, particularly her fellow Akwa Ibomites, and extended an invitation to celebrate her accomplishment in the near future.

Hilda Baci’s awe-inspiring feat has not gone unnoticed on the national stage, as prominent figures like President-elect Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have all expressed their admiration for her remarkable achievement.

Through her exceptional cooking marathon, Chef Hilda Baci has spiced up the culinary world, leaving an indelible mark and inspiring aspiring chefs worldwide.
