Get ready to embark on a culinary adventure like never before as Madrid’s renowned Uber Chef, Alex Marugan, takes center stage at the 2023 Nigerian Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) Gastronomy Fair. This year, Chef Marugan will delight Nigerians with the tantalizing flavors of traditional Spanish cuisine, with the star dish being the iconic Paella.

As an annual exhibition celebrating the fusion of culture and tourism, the Gastronomy Fair showcases a diverse array of dishes from both international communities and Nigeria’s six geo-political zones. It serves as a platform to strengthen relationships between Nigeria’s hospitality sector and the global culinary world.

Mark your calendars for June 17th and 18th, when the third edition of the Gastronomy Fair takes place at the prestigious International Conference Center (ICC). Spain, participating for the second time at the event, will grace the occasion with the presence of Chef Marugan. Thanks to the support of the Embassy of Spain in Nigeria and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID), the renowned chef will conduct a two-day masterclass, sharing his expertise with selected Nigerian chefs at the SV Chrome Hotel in Jabi, Abuja on June 15th-16th.

Following the exclusive training sessions, Chef Marugan will astound the public with his culinary prowess, serving up the traditional Spanish delicacy, Paella. Picture a sumptuous blend of rice, saffron, vegetables, chicken, and seafood cooked to perfection in one pan—a true feast for the senses.

“The Embassy is delighted to collaborate with SV Chrome and NIHOTOUR in bringing Alex to Nigeria. Let us promote tourism by showcasing the best of Nigerian and Spanish cuisine, exchanging culinary expertise, and fostering strong ties between our hospitality sectors,” stated the Embassy.

The Gastronomy Festival promises an unforgettable experience with over 1000 Nigerian dishes and beverages on display. With more than 5000 visitors expected to attend, including the general public, international community, and industry stakeholders in travel, tourism, and hospitality, this event is not to be missed.
