In a successful operation, operatives of the Lagos State Command, Tolu Division, have apprehended five individuals suspected of engaging in a cult initiation process in the state. The suspects have been identified as Peter Odumola (19), Promise Benjamin (20), Emmanuel Ikechuckwu (19), Richards Adu (18), and Abdullahi Nasiru (20).
According to a statement by Ben Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, the arrest took place on Sunday, July 9, 2023, around 02:00hrs. The police received a distress call regarding a forceful initiation taking place in a hotel located in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State. Prompt action was taken, leading to the successful rescue of a victim and the apprehension of the suspects.
Hundeyin further revealed that investigations are ongoing, and upon their conclusion, the suspects will be arraigned in court. He also emphasized that the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, urges residents of Lagos to promptly alert the police about any suspicious activities in their localities.
