The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully thwarted the activities of a gang involved in vandalizing rail lines and impounded their vehicles containing evidence of their criminal acts. Acting on credible intelligence, personnel from the State Police Command took swift action on June 22, 2023, leading to the interception of the gang responsible for the rail line vandalism.
According to DSP Muhammed Jalige, the spokesperson for the Command, an unspecified number of individuals arrived at Sanzwan in Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the State in an articulated vehicle (DAF) bearing registration number DAL 172 YL. These individuals proceeded to vandalize approximately 600 railway slippers.
Upon receiving the information, the police swiftly mobilized their personnel to the scene of the crime. The suspects, upon spotting the approaching officers, fled the area, abandoning the vehicle that was intended to transport the vandalized items. While no arrests were made, the vehicle was immediately impounded, and the stolen exhibits were recovered.
Additionally, on June 25, 2023, the police made further progress in their investigation, recovering two fully loaded trucks carrying railway slippers. The search for the fleeing suspects is ongoing, with intensified efforts being made to locate and apprehend them.
