In an update on the national population and housing census, the chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Kwarra, announced that President Bola Tinubu will personally reveal the new dates for the census. Kwarra made this disclosure after his delegation briefed the President at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the meeting, the Commission submitted its report to President Tinubu, who will now study the report and make an informed decision regarding the nationwide census. Kwarra also highlighted the possibility of the Commission requiring additional financial provisions due to the extended delay, as the longer the census is postponed, the greater the financial implications.
Kwarra expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s support and approval to assist the Commission in conducting the census and its preparatory activities. He acknowledged that the President’s endorsement has provided the Commission with the motivation and confidence to enhance their preparations.
The NPC chairman affirmed that the Commission will continue its preparations and await President Tinubu’s announcement of the census date. The importance of data for national planning and development was emphasized, and the Commission thanked the President for recognizing this significance and offering his support.
The new dates for the national population and housing census will be eagerly anticipated as the NPC and the government work together to ensure the successful execution of this vital exercise for the country’s planning and development purposes.
