In my fallen estate,
I am mocked I am disgraced and cast
Why am I treated so?
Is it in beauty or enchantment I lack?
Or good clothes in a sack?
Surely I shall not remain like this forever
Mock me no more for I shall rise
With sweet vengeance crowned in my glory high.
Now you will come to me
Claiming to be a friend even when a foe.
Thus in my exalted state
I shall only look down upon you and ponder
Why judge the book by its cover?
But for you my friends who stood by me
Even when it seemed I was hopeless,
You knew I would rise again
Not despairing even in a bargain.
Here is a toast for time I was not torn
A time for remembrance
For I was only gold in its impure form.
