In anticipation of the highly-anticipated commissioning of the Dangote Refinery by President Muhammadu Buhari on May 22, 2023, the Lagos State government has pledged to guarantee a hassle-free traffic experience along the bustling Lekki-Epe corridor. Commuters and transporters can rest assured that the state is taking proactive measures to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles on this vital route.

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, through a statement issued by Commissioner Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, emphasized the importance of planning travel during the commissioning event. It advised residents to schedule their journeys outside the peak hours of 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on the designated day. This advance notice is crucial due to the expected surge in vehicular movement within the Lekki-Epe zone as a result of the grand event.

To facilitate a seamless travel experience, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other traffic enforcement personnel have been diligently assigned to manage and control the flow of vehicles. Motorists are kindly urged to cooperate with these officials, ensuring a smooth and efficient passage along the route.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s presence at the commissioning signifies the monumental significance of the Dangote Refinery. As the largest single-train refinery globally, it marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards self-sufficiency in local crude oil refining. By reducing the need for foreign exchange spent on importing petroleum products, this ambitious project strengthens Nigeria’s economy and contributes to national development.

Bashir Ahmad, the special assistant to the president on digital communications, shared the news of the refinery’s inauguration in a tweet. The 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery is set to play a pivotal role in transforming Nigeria into a self-reliant nation in crude oil refining. President Muhammadu Buhari’s presence at the event underscores the government’s commitment to achieving this crucial milestone.

With the Lagos State government’s proactive approach and meticulous traffic management strategies, residents and commuters can look forward to a stress-free journey along the Lekki-Epe Road during the Dangote Refinery commissioning. This remarkable feat not only symbolizes Nigeria’s progress in the energy sector but also highlights the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for economic growth.
