In a tragic incident, a four-storey hotel building in the Dape community at Life Camp, located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has collapsed, leaving more than 20 individuals trapped. The hotel in question is reportedly owned by Summit Villa hotel services, according to available information.
The collapse occurred around 4:00 pm on Monday while construction workers were diligently carrying out their duties, as per an anonymous eyewitness at the site. Shockingly, the building unexpectedly gave way during the casting work, leading to the entrapment of several workers present on-site during the collapse. Notably, the incident transpired shortly after the engineer had left the premises.
Investigations into the incident revealed that the collapsed building, situated in the swampy area of Dape near Berger Clinic, can be attributed to the usage of substandard materials. These materials are believed to have contributed to the structural failure, causing the unfortunate collapse.
In response to this devastating event, a rescue team comprising officials from the FCT Fire Service, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigerian police is currently on-site, diligently working towards rescuing the trapped victims. Their joint efforts are focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected by this tragic incident.
