Popular Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, also known as RMD has described the eagerly anticipated movie, “Voiceless” as “audacious.”
RMD spoke during the screening of the movie at the Film House Cinema in Lekki, ahead of its release in cinemas nationwide today.
“Voiceless”, produced by Rogers Ofime and directed by Robert Peters, is a gripping love story based on actual events, a fact-fiction. It tells the story of Salma and Goni (Adam Garba) and those around them; one captured and forced to work for the insurgents as a skilled mechanic, the other kidnapped along with other girls from her school to serve the lust and drive home the agenda of their abductors.
In the midst of the betrayals and suspicions that make up the abductors’ camp, they find love, strength, and will to survive and escape back to the life they were taken away from. Soon they realised that their love will pay the ultimate sacrifice for survival as acceptance, reintegration become a nightmare.
Insurgency, captivity, terror, anguish, defiance, and trauma are the few far-reaching words to describe the heartbreaking yet courageous action-packed film, which also portrayed the themes of love and rejection.
Commending the movie’s production team at the media screening, Mofe-Damijo preferably called RMD, described the movie as “audacious.”
RMD, who lauded the production team for its fearless interpretation of the themes, said that the movie will resonate with both the Nigerian and foreign audience, as it balances in both Nigerian and foreign language film genres.
Overwhelmed by the human angle of the film, the actor said that love can happen in the strangest of places and people, a perspective worth viewing by audiences.
The Native Media production venture was screened to an audience of celebrities, media stakeholders, notable personalities and cast from the scene including the lead actress, Asabe Madaki, who played the role of Salma.
Other actors are Yakubu Mohammed who played Lafiya, Abba Zaky as Bulus, Habiba Zock-Sock as Kauna, Nadia Dutch as Dalia and the villain of the film, Uzee Usman as Banza. Other household actors in the movie are Sani Mu’azu and Rekiya Attah.
LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that it took six months of scripting, two months of filming in Jos, Plateau State, and two years of pre- and post-production to arrive at the finished product screened.
